Last week I wrote for VOX about importing a little Thanksgiving spirit across the pond, so it should come as no surprise that Black Friday and Cyber Monday have also made the commercial voyage to the emerald aisle. Be proud - I have withstood all temptation.
So instead of spending money I don't have on things my kids don't need, I thought I'd share a few places where you can spread some love on Giving Tuesday (a charitable alternative to the commercial appeal of holiday shopping). These are orgs I've either donated to myself, volunteered for, or know the good people behind them.
Take a look, find something that strikes your particular fancy, and make a difference this Christmas. I know for a fact that even just a few bucks can literally change lives.

JOURNALISM ORGS
If you value - or are a bit worried about - freedom of speech and freedom of the press, now is a great time to buy a subscription (print or online) or donate to your favourite news org.
And don't forget you can donate when purchasing at Amazon through AmazonSmile (at no additional cost to you!). You can select any charity you like, or you can choose the charity we work for, which will go towards families, churches, community development and refugee aid throughout all of Europe. Finally, if you'd like to support this site, our family and our work in Ireland, you can do so here.
Thank you for joining me in some cheerful giving. Apparently, it's all the rage. xo
