Without a doubt, the highlight of the summer so far was a visit from one of my best, lifelong friends. Julia and her gorgeous little girl came to spend her 40th birthday in Ireland with us, which is basically like giving your best friend the best gift for your own birthday. We had such a fantastic time with them, crisscrossing this island and exploring some new- and not-so-new-to-us places.
But the most beautiful, by far, was Powerscourt.
Of course, when we left Dublin it was cold, cloudy and wet, but by the time we reached the mountains, the sky was blue and the sun so very warm.
I can't believe it took me six years of living in Ireland before finally taking a tour of the gardens. The audio tour was narrated by members of the family who have called Powerscourt home for generations, so it a special treat to hear their childhood memories and favourite nooks and crannies.
We didn't make it to the Powerscourt Waterfall on this day, but having been there several years ago with our littles, highly recommend it.
No matter what you do in and around Powerscourt, I don't think it's possible to take a single wrong step. There's just too much beauty for the eye to behold!
