Leigh tells me it's about time for the monthly What I'm Into blog link-up. And right now I'm underneath a burgundy throw, feet up on an Amish ottoman, watching The Daily Show from a Kansas sitting room.
I'm in a new space. Literally and figuratively. One will vanish fairly quickly (like 4am tomorrow quickly). And the other I hope will stick around for awhile. Thanks for keeping up with me, here there and everywhere (don't worry, The River Into Words will still be live while I import the old into the new).
But now? Here's what I'm into:
READING...
Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett, for the flight over (apart from a small helping of the Kansas City Star, nothing at all has been read on our little American holiday).
LISTENING TO...
Cowboy Indian Bear and the lovely music of Katlyn Conroy who sang at my sister's wedding.
WATCHING...
The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America and a smidgeon of Little League Baseball.
LOVING...
this little foretaste of heaven, a veritable banquet table of family and friends overdosing on joy.
waking up to rain on my sister's wedding day, fixing her slightly damp train, facing my new brother-in-law Nathan as he recited his vows, hearing Matt pray over them as he reminded us of the love story God is telling through us all.
cousins holding seats, holding hands, chasing and yelling and giggling through summer nights.
thunderstorm after thunderstorm after thunderstorm... feeling like they're just for me.
boys in bowties.
mother-of-the-bride dress shopping with my mom.
dancing into the wee hours at the strangest, most wonderful wedding reception (or after party, as the case may be).
stealing my sister's friends, and loaning her a few of my own.
my dad's chili.
coffee on the screened porch.
a grand romantic gesture.
sweet hellos and bittersweet goodbyes.
the great gift of having two homes, two hearts, in two places.
SCRIPTURE
Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church - a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ's love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They're really doing themselves a favour - since they're already "one" in marriage.
Ephesians 5:25-26 {MSG} // sidenote: I got to see this in person last week. And it was brilliant.
Ok, so I'm a sentimental jerk. And I can guarantee there will be more pictures coming posthaste! I hope you'll stick around for more. But for now, tell me: what were you into this month?
Linking up with Leigh Kramer's What I'm Into.
